Francis ford Coppola shot 200 hours of footage and spent three years editing it. The set was tumultuous; with Martin Sheen suffering a heart attack and Dennis Hopper getting a 14 year old Laurence Fishburne addicted to heroin.

For all the tragedy, we are gifted with a cinematic masterpiece. Of all the epic moments of cinematography, one that will always be seared in our memories is the helicopter scene backed by Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries”.
